My name is Kamarun Kalam and I am a fully qualified senior Counsellor, Accredited by the BACP (British Association for Counsellors and Psychotherapists).
My aim is to support you to feel more fulfilled in life. I want you to be able to speak your truth and feel heard, understood and seen. If you are unsure of whether you need support have a think about the following questions:
- Do you feel low in mood, energy and self esteem?
- Have you struggled with anxiety, depression or panic attacks?
- Feeling overwhelmed or stressed in your personal or professional life?
- Struggling to connect with yourself and others?
- Do you feel unseen, unimportant or devalued by loved ones or work colleagues?
- Have you ever felt like you are not being heard?
- Do you want to feel accepted for who you really are, to belong and feel loved?
If you can relate to any of these questions then therapy can help. Seeking support via counselling can feel difficult, not knowing what to expect and feeling uncertain about how things will pan out. I will do my best to help you feel relaxed and understood. You are welcome to ask me questions to help understand the process better and you will be my main priority.
I know that taking the first steps can be very scary and how difficult it can be to talk about painful emotional issues affecting your life to a stranger, especially in the first few sessions of getting to know each other. Often I get asked the question ‘Where do I start?’ The simple answer is ‘where ever you want to start’ -the session belongs to you and you will find your own direction.
Experience
My work over the past 20 years in the public sector has given me experience of supporting families through some pretty tough situations. I have helped people from different backgrounds ranging from professionals with work related stress, to children, teenagers and adults with a wide range of family and relationship issues. Nothing you tell me would be shocking, strange or silly.
This is the first and most brave step to embarking on a journey of self -exploration, change and personal growth. You share what you wish and we will work through it together. In this way we can move forward and enlighten your heart to make sense of what’s happening in your life. Never be afraid to reach out and access the support you need.
Therapy will take place at a pace that suits you and can be offered via telephone and Skype nationally. I offer a free 20 minute phone consultation to help you decide if therapy is right for you and answer any questions you may have.

Feel free to read my testimonials pages and look up my google and yell reviews online. Below are a few clients’ feedback on the services provided:
“I would like to recommend Kam’s counselling services and feel that a Google review doesn’t really give justice to the support, encouragement and personal development journey I have been on with her. Kam has helped me to refocus what I wanted in life and the kinds of relationships I wanted with the people I love. It hasn’t always been easy and it’s been hard work for me due to my own personal needs, but I can easily recognise the positives that comes from this.
Kam is a credit to her practice and I have appreciated working with her to look at what works and doesn’t in my life, I also feel her approach to dropping in the old joke to normalise things was much appreciated too, she could help me laugh when I really needed it. Her intuition on this was fantastic. I have had homework, YouTube videos, documents and thought provoking pieces of writing to consider out of my counselling hours – they were always valuable and it added extras to the counselling sessions.
I was also offered a degree of flexibility during this time, it was led by me and my partner through the counselling sessions – I always felt in charge but also influenced by Kam’s unconditional positive regard. She has been one of the most important people I have met in my life whilst also teaching me how important I am for my own life. I could go on about the symbiotic approach to therapy but it was really there during these sessions in all of it’s therapy beauty.
‘what you imagine, you create’ – thanks Kam x
Tom
“Kam put me at ease from the get go. She’s calming and professional yet gets straight to the heart of your issues. I can’t recommend her highly enough! A year on and my life is changed for the better, anxiety is manageable and bad relationships are a thing of my past” Michelle (December 2016)
“Kam is a wonderful woman who i can only say gave me ‘ME’ back to myself, she was firm but very kind and slowly made me realise that no matter what other people do to me I am in control.” Anna (June 2017)
“Kam was a massive help to me, I understand life long problems better and how to handle them. Kam uses a variety of techniques which has helped me in different ways and supported me to find purpose and focus in my life again. I would highly recommend if you want to talk to someone friendly and knowledgeable 🙂 Dean
“When life becomes overwhelmingly difficult know that you are not alone. Just reach out and access the support you need. It may be the most life changing decision you will ever make. I will support you through this process and get you to the other side” Kam
